I am not afraid of my art anymore.
Like a genie out of a bottle that follows me through the pilgrimage of life, my art cannot be ‘bottled’ again!
My art gives agency to my beliefs and reveals them through my very personal visual language.
The process of creating is a ritual in itself when I become one with my materials yet create an effect way beyond me.
So, I say… The Festival Goes On!
As the title suggests it is a reminder of the repetitive. Of a ritual that makes my inner expression have a life of its own. It is not so much about me. Like the African parable says, ‘I am because we are’.
Why do I think so? Well, I saw some things happen…
Yomi, my childhood friend and master perfumer watched the progression of this work of art. It inspired him to create a perfume. Then Adesegun, an art writer had a conversation about the work of art and sent a message to me that he is inspired to write a poem because he believes that ‘the Festival Must Go On!’.
I hope others will take my little beginnings and be inspired to create works way beyond me.
